Office Makeover
/Like many individuals throughout 2020, living at home also became living at work, living at school, and a lot of other places all operated out of the home. It’s all blended – one and the same, except school finally became a separate place for some. Being at home gave the opportunity to look around and see areas to upgrade, refresh, and repurpose. My husband and I have been blessed to live in a home with separate his and her offices – something I realize now is a deal breaker, but when building our home seemed like a nice to have. Like many during this season, given that we’ve been in our home 5-years, it was time to make a few upgrades.
Come to discover, I wasn’t the only one with that home upgrade itch. According to Kiplinger, e-commerce sales are expected to rise 35% this holiday season over last year. The home décor sector is certainly helping to drive this increase – seeing major growth in the area of home improvement. This is driven from the increasing use of digital platforms – Instagram, Facebook, etc and the AR/VR technology, where customers can view digital versions of the product in their own homes.
I’ve been no exception when it comes to helping drive an increase in home improvement sales. I am so grateful for my designer, Stacia Pierce, who originally designed our home fully from top to bottom. She quickly surveyed and identified areas to upgrade, change, and a few areas that have gotten off track from the original design. Lol… I was so excited to get started and dive in!
Today’s blog is going to focus on my office. The color scheme has moved from pink and gray to more of a mauve and gold accent. This new deeper color brought a timeless and classic look, while still sticking to the clean lines that were there from the beginning. Another key feature was the addition of more storage space. It’s been great adding cabinets and drawers to keep key items hidden away from view.
My favorite new addition was the rug! Really a statement piece that can be seen across the home and truly brings together an excellent look!
When you think about upgrading – always remember a few key changes can go a long way. The most important first step is a good declutter. You must throw away and clear the things in the way that are holding you back. If you have to step over or are creating those corner junk piles, the time has come to clear out messy spaces first before decorating.
